Olly wasn’t the only star of the show though, as
budding local talent Connor Lawlor-Mahon drew
huge applause from the crowd as he opened
proceedings.

Olly Olly Olly! Crowd lap up star

From The Scarborough News 6th June 2013

A sell-out crowd packed out Scarborough’s Open Air Theatre, as chart-topper Olly Murs kicked off the venues summer season.

The Essex-singer plowed his way through an 85 minute hit-laced set - before a spectacular firework display rounded off the gig.

It was a successful return for the star, who headlined the only sell-out show at the multi-million pound venue last year.
However, the star earlier told The Scarborough News that with no albums plans this year, a third show on the bounce may be off the cards - but hopes to be “invited” back to the town.

He said: “Whenever I do something that I like, and when the promoters like me, I always get invited back at some point and if they have me back I’ll do it for sure.

But if it were up to the singers devoted fan base, then platinum-selling Murs would have a residency at the venue.
“We are very excited about seeing our Olly!” said Scarborough mum Kerry Davison who was at the gig with her young daughter.

Adrian Berry bought his partner tickets for her birthday, and the pair couldn’t wait to catch a glimpse of Olly for the first time. “He seems like one of the lads who can get the crowd going and plays good music,” said Adrian.

“He’s fit isn’t he really!” said Scarborough girl Elsie Laurie, who also caught his headline show last summer.
“It’s just his cheeky attitude.”
