John Barrowman At The Open Air Theatre In Scarborough
John Barrowman has vowed to return to Scarborough
From The Scarborough News
The Glasgow-born 45-year-old said the experience was “absolutely incredible” and added he was impressed with the venue. He said: “At one point I looked out and there was a flock of birds flying over. It was one of the most beautiful things I have seen in a long time.”
The charismatic star told the rain-sodden crowd of about 2,000: “I will definitely come back to Scarborough but next time, it will be indoors!”
There were downpours before last Thursday’s concert but conditions stayed dry for most of the two-hour show, which saw Barrowman belt out hits from the last few decades.
His diverse setlist included You to Me Are Everything, Life is a Rollercoaster, Never Gonna Give You Up, Don’t Cry out Loud, Fireflies and Celebration.
Fans had come from all over to see the performance, including Lisa Aab, who had travelled from Michigan in the USA to witness all dates on Barrowman’s UK tour, which also stopped at Glasgow and London. A scheduled Blackpool date was cancelled due to the severe weekend weather.
Friends Christopher Williamson and Jessica Freeston, of Barrow-upon-Humber, won a competition to meet the Torchwood star before the show.
Christopher, 21, said: “It was brilliant, absolutely brilliant.” Jessica added: “It was fantastic, everything about it. I loved it from start to finish.”
